The Appliances: A Benefit for Playhouse Arts

Plug in and recharge with The Appliances the night before New Year’s Eve.

Thirty years after playing their last show, the band has been recalibrated and recycled. With new clean-energy engineering, the band will play a set of songs from their new, live CD. It was recorded off the sound mixing board by the late, great Tim Gray on New Years Eve, 1990, at Arcata’s International Beer Garden. Russ Cole found the tape and digitized it, and the band will have copies for sale.

The group of local and well loved musicians are playing together once again in a benefit for Playhouse Arts. Joyce Hough, Fred Neighbor, and Gary Davidson from Home Cookin’; Paul DeMark and Dave Ryan from the Delta Nationals; and Jeff Landen from the Bayou Swamis are playing together for the first time in thirty years.

The Playhouse is a recharging station for our community, but it too needs recharging now and then. Come and enjoy a specialty cocktail, beer, wine, or kombucha on tap, and plug in to what the Arcata Playhouse gives to the community.
